Can john be used to crack pwds for windows2000 professional?

I have used cachedump-1.0 utility to dump encrypted pwds.

For my ID it looks like :3EFEF1C39C172574A4A645B77640E833

I added the pwd in password dictonary. But john could not crack the it. I
used john-16 for the same.

Pls tell me if i can crack pwds for windows2000 professional using John?
If yes, what exectly needs to be done?
